# How Slash Commands Work

InfinityBot uses a lot of slash commands. These commands can be used for everything, here is a guide on how to use them!

### What are slash commands?

Slash commands are are used to tell the bot what to do. When you are reading through these docs, you can recognize slash commands on the block of text they are in, for ecample; `/command`

### Running a Command

To run a command, simply type it's name in your chat bar and press enter, like in the gif below:

### Slash Command Options

Commands can have 2 types of options,[ required options](#required-options) and [optional options](#optional-options).

These options can then also be a selection option. The selection can be everything from a line of text to a role to a user:

If you can't select anything, you will need to type something in the option and press enter.

Commands can have a lot of options:

#### Required Options

Required options are visible when you use a command. Discord will force you to enter something in them before you can run the command:

#### Optional Options

Optional options are hiden when you type the command. If a command has any optional options, it will how the text "+1 more" after the other command options. You can then open the optional options by pressing that text, after that, you can select the optional option you would like to fill in.
