Common Swear Words

The common swear words rule will block commonly used swear words. You can learn how to enable it with the steps below.

Enable the Rule

First of all, you will need to enable the Block Commonly Flagged Words rule, you can do so by toggling the toggle switch of the correct rule.

Configure Whitelisted Words

You can also add whitelisted words. Everyone in your server will be able to use these words.

Configure Targets

You will now be able to enable target key words. You can choose from:

  • Severe Profanity, forms of swearing or cursing.

  • Sexual Content, terms that refer to sexually explicit behaviour or activity

  • Insults & Slurs, personally insulting terms and terms that may be considered hate speech

Configure Actions

Now you can set up the actions you want Discord to take when a message gets blocked.

When rule is triggered

In this menu you can select what you want Discord to do when a message triggers this AutoMod rule. You can choose from:

  • Block Message, this will block the message from being send in your server.

  • Send alert, this will flag the message for review by one of your moderators.

  • Timeout Member, this will timeout the member, which will block them from sending any messages in your server.

Alert Channel

In this menu you can select the channel where you want AutoMod actions to be logged. Make sure this is a moderator-only channel!

Configure Exemptions

Now you can select channels, categorys and roles that you want the AutoMod rule to ignore. Users with these roles or in these channels can bypass this rule.
